THE CYNICS - Living Is The Best Revenge

Although I've been seeing records for sale by THE CYNICS for a lot of years, I never really considered picking one up because I thought they'd be just another lame "garage revival band".....Now I realize what Ive been missing out on! Yeah- they got the nuggets-type cover songs & the 60's garage thing down pat, but they've really pulled off the impossible, updating the sound , making it modern enough so it doesnt sound contrived in the slightest. Not too many bands can do it but this is some good shit. I first heard THE CYNICS over at TWILIGHTZONE & have been buying up their stuff like mad ever since. Just goes to show music-sharing isnt always the worst thing that can happen for a band..........................

Download THE CYNICS - Living is the best revenge

LEGAL WEAPON - Your Weapon

More killer shit from the incredible Kat Arthur & LEGAL WEAPON YOUR WEAPON

LEGAL WEAPON - Death of Innocence

Stepping out of the garage today for some early 80's straight up punk rock from LEGAL WEAPON....as far as I know all this early stuff is currently outta print which is a shame. Vinyl rips. DEATH OF INNOCENCE

THE RATS - The Rats (1980)

Fred & Toody's Pre- DEAD MOON band, I case ya didnt know.....Apparently this is kinda rare, and I dont think it was ever reissued (?) . Not really "punk" per se, Imagine a slightly more understated DEAD MOON & you're going in the right direction. Has the original version of "Until it Rains" & a couple of those really great emotional ballad-type tunes that Fred's so damn good at......Vinyl rip without noise reduction because it was fucking up the sound.......I dont think the computer program could quite figure out Mr. Cole's voice...HA! THE RATS

HEADCOATS/HEADCOATEES Split (7" Picture Disc)

A nifty British picture disc with another one of my favorite Headcoats songs "I'm Hurtin".... I must have listened to this song fifty times before I realized it's almost note for note "He's Watin" from THE SONICS second album! HEADCOATEES/HEADCOATS

THE SPITS - first album

If THE RAMONES had never stopped sniffing glue, they'd probably have sounded something like this. To call these guys retarded is an insult to the mentally challenged. Of course it's fucking rad. One of the best live shows youre likely to see too!! Their website has lots of mp3's, videos, and the swankiest merchandise around (doomsday dolls, 8-tracks, urban assualt gloves etc.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~http://www.thespits.com~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE SPITS!

THEE HEADCOATS - Girl From '62 (7" single)

Download it.....GIRL FROM '62 another killer cut from THEE HEADCOATS!!! (1992, Regal Select)

THE GIMMICKS - Honeymoon's Over

Ripped from pretty yellow vinyl........Think these guys ever heard of THE STOOGES...........? HONEYMOON'S OVER

An actual conversation I had last night.......

Stripper: "Hey, what does your shirt say?" INVISIBLE MAN, (Pulling jacket open...): "The Yardbirds." Stripper: "Oh. "(looks puzzled) "I don't really keep up on new music." INVISIBLE MAN: "Yeah me neither!"

THEE MILKSHAKES - Red Hot (7" Vinyl)

Two song single from 1992...... Download......RED HOT

SUPERCHARGER - Rev It Up!

A coupla singles by one of my top faves, the mighty SUPERCHARGER! Even though I bought "Rev it Up!" new & its been extremely well taken care of it still sounds like crapola..Its like they mastered it at a level only dogs can hear or something. Great tunes though. If anyone has any better sounding files pony up! Next, a tuff ta find Estrus promo with some hilarious studio banter & another kool tune........
REV IT UP!!!!!!

THE MONARCHS - Hit That Bitch (vinyl 7", 3 songs)

Saw THE MONARCHS at one of the Estrus Garage Shocks a Loooong time ago & they were such a blast live. Although it is in no way evident on the way this record was recorded, Sarah, the singer, had a really cool sounding voice & despite the crappy cover photo she was quite a doll....needless to say I was hopelessly in love. I wish Dave would start doing Garage Shock again, if you ever were fortunate enough to get to one you know how nuts they were! (This came out on red vinyl, Estrus, 1995) HIT THAT BITCH!!!!!!!!!

OBLIVIONS - Strong Come On (Vinyl 7")

  1. Download STRONG COME ON!

LOOSE LIPS (Vinyl 7")

Okay, This is the kinda thing I was always planning on doing here, putting up some junk ya just can't find too easy like these singles. Finally got the damn turntable hooked up with the damn computer after trying 3 different turntables (don't ask) & it seems to sound okay, as far as I can tell.If it sounds like crap let me know. There's prolly going to be some hisses, pops, etc but that's just rock & roll, brother....& the cover photos aint going to be no works of art either, seeing how I dont have a scanner! That being said I think yer going to

like the first one. Loose Lips was one

of Shane Whites projects and they

were pretty damn great. Got to

see them open up for THE REAL KIDS a

couple years ago, right when the

Kids got back together for the

first time (R.I.P. Alpo). Also got

their album on vinyl somewhere,

its equally as good. Standout

track for me on this is "Slow

Death" even though its not the

Groovies tune..........

MR> AIRPLANE MAN - Moanin'

Don't let the kinda dumb sounding name of this group throw you off (OK, they're named after a Howlin Wolf song, I know that, but they mighta chose better ) this two-girl duo know what they're doing. .....Slinky, swampy, and duh-- bluesy, I never get tired of listening to this album. At times they almost sound like a garage band version of MAZZY STAR to me for some reason. Or something like that. Simple, stripped down, but never sloppy, If you like the DELOMONAS, HEADCOATEES etc, this should be right up your alley! Download it here.........MOANIN'

CHEATER SLICKS- Destination Lonely

THE MUNSTERS - Hot Rod Herman (1965)

THE NECESSARY EVILS - The Sicko Inside Me

Interplanetary transmissions and the sound of blood lust - get ready for the extreme psychodelic and otherworldly sounds of the Necessary Evils. Their brand of sci-fi inspired fuzz rock stands alone. Founded in 1997 by Steve Pallow (formerly of The Beguiled) and James Arthur (formerly of Fireworks), and rounding out their line up with Kyle John Hall on drums and Jimmy Hole on bass, The Evils have carved a nasty path of destruction. Pure scuzz-rock derangement, they even cover the KEGGS. Not for the weak... THE SICKO INSIDE ME

Wow, I read somewhere that this band went splitsville but apparently not cuz theyre comin to town in March with a new album on the way...Finally some good news for a change! Dig a pony. LACED WITH ROMANCE PONYS WEBSITE (pretty cool!)http://www.theponys.com/

THE HUNCHES - Yes. No. Shut It.

The debut album from Portland's the Hunches. The Hunches play ferocious, noise-laden brand of rock n' roll. Think Pussy Galore meets the Blowtops. They fell off the same truck as label mates, the Horrors. This record is a live recording with a bunch of noise added for the chaos of it all. YES. NO. SHUT IT.

THEE HEADCOATEES - Punk Girls

PUNK GIRLS DOWNLOAD

SUGAR SHACK - Five Weeks Ahead of My Time

This Houston, Texas five-piece growls and roars with timeless, rebellious "we won't be kept down" rock and roll energy, kicking out the jams with one rollicking two-minute three-chord skuzz-rock anthem after another. Sugar Shack's not-quite-controlled chaos marries the sound of pre-punk '60s garage rock -- especially the acid-influenced dementia of Texas acts like the 13th Floor Elevators and the Moving Sidewalks -- with the angry, thunderous bite of early '80s Los Angeles punk outfits like the Misfits. FIVE WEEKS AHEAD OF MY TIME

Been working alot lately, sorry for the lack of new posts----Hang in there, I'll get going again soon I promise...!

THE LAZY COWGIRLS - Ragged Soul

was the first album in five years from the Lazy Cowgirls, and from the first blast of D.D. Weekday's guitar on "I Can't Be Satisfied" it's obvious that this band was ready to make up for lost time. Against all odds, Ragged Soul sounds like the band's best album ever; the twin-guitar punch of Weekday and Michael Leigh offers plenty of kick with no clutter, the rhythm section drives the songs forward without crowding anyone in the process, and Pat Todd proves he's one of the greatest unsung frontmen in rock, pouring out fire and passion on every cut. The material is top shelf, too, especially the bitterly anthemic "Frustration, Tragedy and Lies" and "Bought Your Lies." Tough, furious, loud and proud -- Ragged Soul is roots-smart old-school punk at its finest. ~ Mark Deming, All Music Guide......... I would tend to agree with everything that guy says, except that the 7" version of "Frustration....." is way superior than the album cut ( and is also my favorite COWGIRLS song ) so I stuck that in the file too....... Get it! RAGGED SOUL

THE PAGANS - Everybody Hates You

Yeah that's right--Everybody DOES hate you. 'Cept me. Because I'm giving you the PAGANS and a secret invisible bonus album too. Your life is incomplete if youve never heard the PAGANS!! PAGANS - Everybody Hates You man I totally fucked this up & about 8 or 9 songs get repeated in the first file. I'll fix it later if anyone gives a crap

THE MILKSHAKES-REVENGE!

Good artists borrow-Great artists steal.... And NOBODY takes every bit of everything that was ever great about rocknroll & re-assembles it the way Billy Childish does. Hell, he even steals from himself. THATS how great he is! For over 30 years this guys been cranking it out non-stop. One of the few people in this crappy world I truly admire...... copy & past this:

THE FLAMING SIDEBURNS - Save Rock & Roll

Tryin to give you some stuff that hasn't been Blogged to death. Never forget seeing these guys live.... they played their hearts out for what must have been maybe a dozen semi-interested people. Tore it up like they were playing a stadium anyway. The singer tried to jump off the amps, missed, hit the ground REAL BAD ( no shit, I thought he might be paralyzed or something ) but bounced right back up, tho obviously in pain. They never slowed down or let down once the whole set.. SAVE ROCK & ROLL!!!

THEE HEADCOATEES- The Sisters Of Suave!

Cant have all that Headcoats stuff without their female counterparts....I love this album cover.
SISTERS OF SUAVE

BILLY CHILDISH- I Am The Billy Childish

I AM THE BILLY CHILDISH Fifty songs from fifty records. One time Billy waited directly behind me in line to take a piss at a show. Didnt ask to cut ahead or anything. I thought that was kinda classy(although I totally would have let him in front of me)..... Brush with fame story #1 in a series.

THE KEGGS

"To find out" by THE KEGGS....This has gotta be my favorite 1960's punk song of all time..... One listen to this begs the question~ what the hell were these guys thinking? Sounds like half the band is playing a different song than the others, while the "singer" slurs his way through some mostly unintelligible lyrics. Add some Assorted pained screaming + Retarded drumming = Brilliance! Probley done as a joke at the time but winds up being....possibly...the greatest song, FUCKING EVER! @#$%$$$**&!!!! http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=girl___keggs.mp3

THE GODDAMN GENTLEMEN - Sex Calibre Horsepower

Dunno if these guys are still around...Used to see some great live shows. Noisy. Drunk. Fucked. Pick up their first album "Chariots of fire spitting cobras" too!
"Thirteen highly charged and tempermental songs of crime, booze, cars, & blood that attacks with the reckless abandon of a mental patient on PCP - switches gears to cool, collected, moody, confident, almost intellectual moments - before blasting back to hell in a distorted frenzy".GODDAMN GENTLEMEN

THE BLOODY HOLLIES - If Footmen Tire You

This CD is short on handclaps, thirteen part harmonies, Rogue synthesizers, but who the hell cares. From the most depraved swamp bars of the South to the most junk addled rock haunts in the city, a pained echo of decadence howls, with this cool record serving as its loud tonic. ROBERT MITCHUM - The Ballad of Thunder Road
One of my favorite dead guys, Robert Mitchum SINGING!! How great!! NOT from the movie of the same name that he starred in, co-wrote, produced & directed. Came out after. Quite an over-achiever for a dope smoker if you ask me. Thift-store find #1 in a series. (copy this link to yr browser.....) http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=Thunder_Road.mp3

THE CHROME CRANKS - Dead Cool

Sub-Stooges sludge from The CRANKS!!!
The ominous bass/maracas duel that opens the stuttering sludgabilly title track sets the tone for Dead Cool, a gristly swamp-trawl that threatens to tunnel out of the Lower East Side and not stop until it reaches the Big Easy. With ex-Sonic Youth/Pussy Galore/Bewitched drummer Bob Bert aboard, the Cranks are free to slip one level further into the primordial ooze, which clearly sparks Aaron. His interjections — he's content to groan, yelp and whisper curt phrases into the squall — charge the air with a Pentecostal fervor. One man's trash is another man's treasure. FIREWORKS - Lit Up

"Stripped-down, unprogressive shit rock" is how the music of FIREWORKS was described on a flyer for their first show. The man behind the band, (and also in 68 COMEBACK, BLACKTOP, etc.), Mr Darin Lin Wood simply called it "music for people who like fucked up music". I love fucked up music & this absolutely kills! These guys put out a whole slew a singles & comp tunes but this is the record that does it for me, their second album "Lit Up". A fuzzed out shit-storm of distorto wail that'll burn your face off just as sure as their namesake. Their first album is just as good too..... DOWNLOAD LINK IN COMMENT BOX------
